Ignacio Lopez, Ed.D. is an assistant professor of Education at National-Louis University. In his 10+ years with Chicago Public Schools, Dr. Lopez has been an English teacher, reading teacher, AVID teacher, and instructional leader at the high school level. He has worked closely with CPS district-level new teacher mentoring and induction programs, community and culture professional development, and assessments of vertical curriculum teams.

Dr. Lopez is an expert in understanding new teachers and differentiated instruction approaches in high needs and turnaround schools. He has spoken nationally and locally on a wide variety of topics.

He was a recent Realties of School Turnaround panelist at the University of Chicago. His current work focuses on mentoring and induction in the Turnaround Schools, creating clarity between teachers and local community organizers, and the use of data-driven instruction approaches.
