Dr. Katherine McKnight

Dr. McKnight began her career in education as a high school English teacher
and taught mainly in the Chicago Public Schools. As a professional development provider, Dr. McKnight is passionate about meeting the needs of all students in the inclusive classroom. Sharing proven, practical models and strategies that develop student literacy skills is central to her work.

Dr. McKnight regularly presents at local and national conferences, serves schools in both urban and rural communities and publishes in education journals.

She has also published several books on writing, inclusion, literature instruction and a ground-breaking book that connects improvisation as a strategy for teaching content. Her most recent books include The Teacher’s Big Book of Graphic Organizers and Teaching English in Middle and Secondary School.
