Sandy Robertson has extensive experience as a classroom teacher, an educational specialist, “change agent”, speaker and writer. After building a strong, differentiated classroom inclusive of all students, Robertson went on to work as an administrator who made things happen, in developing an exemplary prekindergarten at-risk program, speaking at the state and national level, being a member of the “First in the World Consortium”, (developing extraordinary brain-research skills and practice), as well as honing leadership and research skills. As a graduate level instructor, she prepared students to lead today’s classroom. She also started the first “friendly” charter school contract in Illinois, was an evaluator with the Kohl-McCormick Foundation on exceptional programming for children, and was an elementary school principal for many years. Robertson is currently building a new school and starting a new program, Preschool through Eighth grade, for the Joliet, Illinois Diocese.
Her interest in brain compatible research has provided opportunities to extend her knowledge of brain-based learning strategies, how to build communities of learners, and how to best teach students with special needs and learning abilities.
In customized trainings, Robertson works with Preschool-12 general education and special education teachers. Her presentations are always fun, interactive, useful, practical and high energy. Participants practice the activities and strategies as they process information in similar ways that their students will in the classroom.
